My artistic journey began in childhood, always drawing, especially human faces and the female form. Over time, I painted various portraits, experimenting with different series, yet felt I was missing something and lacking professional skills. I make vintage inspired fine art paintings. As Kelsey Gilman FineArt, located in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, I strive to showcase my work and share my unique vision with the world.
My Artistic Journey
My passion for art was sparked at a young age, leading me to explore and develop my unique vintage-inspired style. I learned oil painting, drawing, and painting techniques at Milan Art Institute. I now create artwork that reflects my personality, featuring bold and vibrant women with an air of mystery. I use techniques and skills that I learned and continue to develope my skill.
Inspirations and Themes
The themes that inspire my paintings are vintage, retro, timeless beauty, classy, journey, and discovery. My subjects include modern-day women set back in time, and animals like foxes, lions, and tigers, drawing from the 20s to 60s time period.
Creative Process
My creative process involves using charcoal to draw the subject, then incorporating paint and collage to capture texture and pattern. I utilize mixed media paint, mark-making, and spray paint to form the background, and some pieces include pressed flowers.
My Goals
I hope that people see the beauty and care within each of my paintings and that the vintage theme resonates with them. The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is seeing someone connect with my paintings and fall in love with them, making a meaningful connection through art.
